The Weekend
Its the weekend at home in my little small town..What to do is the question?
After a numerous amount of phone calls it was decided that maybe a quieter night that the nights we have in Dublin would be experienced this weekend, a visit to a friends house to watch the X-Factor, just seven of us and then a few quiet drinks in the pub. Good plan..
Did this quiet weekend that was planned..turn into that? NO...of course it didnt, ended in one great night and some serious bonding time with friends I hadn't seen in ages. Its only when you have been away from people in living in the city when you realise that you miss them.
But after one crazy Saturday night came Sunday, and it was time to hit the big shmoke all over again. Did it feel weird? No..not one bit, it felt like I was going to home! After 9 weeks, its great to be able to know I'm going home and that no more it feels like I'm just going away for a week..it feels like I am going home!!

So, its assignment week and I am back at home in the country for the week. It is a bit strange being back for a whole week, it is usually only for two days. This week was different, having spent the week at home I realised that I really like living in the city now. It has come part of who I am now, its not just somewhere where we go Christmas shopping, or for a trip maybe 3 or 4 times a year, it is where I live.
The week at home was really great, got to catch up with people and my family who I hadn't seen in ages. Of course there is also lots of work to be done and it will hopefully all be done in time. That's one of the hard things about this college life, is balancing everything like work and pleasure, there is always so many distractions around. Many of the people I went to school with are in college in Dublin and are always planning different things to do, but there is a time when you just have to say "no" and get on and do some work.
So balancing work and pleasure is one of the hardest things to do living in the city, why is there so many distractions??
Back to work it is now...

7 weeks in..
So this is it..7 weeks in to college life..and it only feels like yesterday that we started. The scared first year, knowing no-body and not knowing what to expect! Well..how that has changed, the scared little first is well and truly out the window..its now the happy preppy first year. Living in the city is great..at times, but when you know that Grafton St and O Connell St are only a 20 minute walk from college..that's when its not good.especially when you are on a student budget.
Living in the country did have its upsides though, one was knowing everybody who lives around you, having grown up around those people. So now moving to the city and coming here knowing only a few people was really difficult. I now live with three girls..one a Swedish girl..who over the last 7 weeks has become more Irish than we are..the other a girl from Galway..which there is only one word to describe her and that is "ditzy"..and of course..there's the other country girl, just like myself who I share a room with, so it could be said that we're a pretty good match!!
I was quit nervous moving up to the city, but I think already I'm beginning to like the city and enjoy all it has to offer...maybe it wont be too long until I'm a City Slicker...
